While trying to get clothes on the last chica con cannon, I thought it would be cool to have a holographic projection bikini. But the outfit would have been wasted on the pose. So this time I totally sandbagged the basic drawing... it's a lame direct front view (gomennasai!!!)... but the point is really all her weird gadgetry.
Squeaker slippers for tunes... the micronized sub-woofers are in the short heels you can't see. The inner ears are just a semi-transparent gradient. I couldn't get anything to look right. I should credit my friend Nasim Peterson - he drew the tattoo on my left arm - a kid wearing mouse slippers, so that's not even close to my idea. I just rigged them for sound.
Holographic cyber-bikini... the bottom is supposed to doing a digital mimic of pink plaid, but I don't think that reads very well. It IS crudely drawn plaid run through a "facet" filter. Note that this is one of the of the third generation cyber bikinis. Unlike some previous models, this version directs its projection beam directly into the eye or optic scanner, and thus remains functional at any viewing angle.
I'm not talking about the gun's tech here, but it does connect to her central processing unit - the prothestic shoulder. Control and broadcast power relays are set up in her hairpin, which you can also barely see from this angle.
Hair digitizers. Yay! That's what dragged this drawing into Photoshop in the first place. Twenty-nine layers later, here we are. There have been digitizers before, and there will be digitizers again.
This only took me about eight days of learning Photoshop. If I'd ever found a single decent tutorial, I'd try and link it... but I muddled through about fifty of them to get the twenty-five answers I was looking for, so all I can say is Google made this posssible. And that this is (by far) the most time I've ever spent on a drawing.
The picture was drawn onscreen in Alias Sketchbook with a Fujitsu tablet pc. I think I used the ballpoint pen brush for all of it. All colours and effects are Photoshop CS3. It would be wrong of me to tell you that both of those programs are available free via Bittorrent systems, so I won't say anything about that...
Goodness. That's quite the little gettup. However, all the tech in this picture makes me over look the whole "this screams GUY" thought that first enters my brain. I want her slippers! You're outlines are a lot cleaner than before. Now I'm off to listen to Kathleen Madigan.
